Proper Fit:
A properly fitted martingale collar should sit comfortably around your dog’s neck.
When adjusted correctly:
- The collar should sit comfortably around your dog’s neck and snug enough that your dog cannot slip out of it.
- Collar should tighten evenly without causing discomfort when the loop tightens.
- You should be able to fit two fingers comfortably between the collar and your dog’s neck.
Daily Use:
Our martingale collar is designed for supervised walks and everyday activities.
For safety:
- Remove the collar during unsupervised play.
- Inspect your gear regularly before walk.
The martingale design provides gentle, gradual tightening to help reduce the chance of backing out while maintaining comfort.
Not recommended for:
- Tethering or tie-out use.
- Crate use when unattended.
- Rough play while wearing the collar.
- Leaving on unsupervised dogs.
Care Instructions:
To keep your gear looking and performing its best:
- Wipe clean with damp cloth or wet tissue after use.
- For heavier dirt, use mild soap and water.
- Dry thoroughly before storing.
- Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaning tools.
- Store in a cool, dry place away from prolonged direct sunlight.
Hardware:
- Light gold hardware may develop minor cosmetic marks over time.
- Surface scratches are normal signs of use.
- Exposure to saltwater should be rinse off with fresh water and dried thoroughly.
Routine cleaning helps maintain the appearance of the webbing and hardware.
Take note:
- No collar and leash is indestructible.
- Durable, but not chew proof.
- Replace the product if significant damage, fraying, cracking, or hardware issues are observed.
- Aways supervise your dog while using any walking gear.
- Use gear appropriate for your dog’s size and strength.
Before every walk, we recommend checking:
- Hardware for signs of damage or deformation.
- Rivets and attachment points.
- Webbing and stitching.
- Collar adjustment settings.
- Secure leash attachment.
Discontinue use if any component shows excessive wear or damage.
Important to know:
A martingale collar is a management tool, not a training shortcut.
It can provide better security and communication during walks, but loose-leash walking still requires consistent training, guidance, and reinforcement.
